SEER2

The current efficiency rating for air conditioners and heat pumps in cooling mode — higher is better.

SEER2 is the updated version of the SEER rating that took effect in 2023. It uses a more realistic test that better reflects real-world conditions. For our region, the minimum SEER2 for new central AC is 13.4; high-efficiency systems can reach the low 20s.
